Custom Hair Care Plan after an Olaplex Curl Bonding Treatment, featuring dense defined natural coils

After Your Olaplex Curl Bonding Treatment: Your 3-Phase Hair Care Recommendations

Your curl journey is moving in the right direction. The recently completed Olaplex Curl Bonding Treatment was a great first step in hair care process: restore a stronger, more hydrated curl foundation; prepare your hair for the more manageable result you want; and maintain that result with a simple salon-and-home routine.

I think you are a great candidate for a smoothing treatment to help improve your manageability but recommend a deep hydrating plan to help your hair be in best state for the flat iron process. We can plan an Amino Acid Smoothing Treatment for approximately three - four weeks from now The three-week home plan below is designed to prepare your dense hair for that next appointment while giving us time to observe how your curls settle.

What I observed during your consultation

You came in with very thick, dense hair after wearing braids. You regularly washed your braids, and your scalp was in good condition. The main challenge was the hair itself: we noticed curls were difficult to manage and showed signs consistent with dehydration, breakage, bond damage, limited visible curl separation, and a rougher, more matte appearance.

Your hair is naturally very full and appears to fall in the Type 4B range. Because you have such beautifully thick hair, your service requires more product, more sectioning, and more time than a standard-density appointment. Just an important part of planning your future services accurately as the amino acid treatment will surely require more product increasing standard price.

What we completed: Olaplex Curl Bonding Treatment

We completed the Olaplex Bond Shaper™ Curl Rebuilding Treatment. This service is designed to support the natural curl, coil, or wave pattern already present in the hair. It is not a curl-loosening service, and it is not intended to create a stretched or relaxed finish by itself.[1]

The service was a good first step for you because your hair needed a stronger, more hydrated foundation before we considered a smoothing service. In the after-service videos, the back and lower sections showed better coil grouping and definition. The front remained more diffuse and looked drier, which gives us useful information for our next visit and confirms that we should continue with a planned, progressive approach rather than chase an instant result with excessive product.

The Olaplex service reinforced the natural curl pattern by repairing bonds & hydrating. When coily hair is more hydrated and gathers into clearer coils, it can recoil more visibly and appear shorter. The service revealed how much natural recoil is present in your pattern. The next service is being selected for a different goal: a smoother, more elongated, easier-to-manage finish overall.

I judge progress by the complete picture: manageability, curl grouping, softness, breakage, hydration, styling response, and how the hair behaves from one appointment to the next.

Why the Hair B Amino Acid Smoothing Treatment is an good next direction if you want more elongated results:

The Amino Acid Smoothing Treatment is a different service category from Olaplex. Olaplex supported your natural curl foundation; Hair B is the service we are planning to create a smoother, more elongated, more relaxed-looking finish that is easier to stretch and manage.

Based on your consultation, your scalp condition, your hair’s density, the response we saw after Olaplex, and hair recovery needs, I am comfortable planning the Hair B service at the three-week mark. This will give a more elongated and smoother curl result, while allowing ability to wear straightened or curled—it does not give a permanent relaxer result, or a fixed percentage of shrinkage reduction as truly varies by hair type.

Phase 1: Weeks 0–3 at home — hydrate, manage, and stretch gently

The goal during these three weeks is to keep the hair clean, conditioned, manageable, and free from unnecessary manipulation so it is prepared for the next salon service.

First 48 hours after Olaplex

Do not shampoo during the first 48 hours after the Bond Shaper service. Keep the hair low-manipulation, avoid heavy oil and butter layering, and protect it at night with satin or silk. After that period, begin the once-weekly wash routine below.

Your once-weekly wash routine

  1. Cleanse: Use Matrix Food For Soft Hydrating Shampoo. Fully saturate the hair first, cleanse the scalp in sections, and allow the lather to move through the lengths without piling the hair on top of your head.
  2. Deep condition: Apply amika Hydro Rush Intense Moisture Mask generously in sections. Detangle gently with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, cover with a plastic cap, and process for approximately 15–20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
  3. Prime: On soaking-wet hair, apply MIZANI 25 Miracle Leave-In Cream in sections. Use enough to support slip and manageability, but do not saturate the hair with multiple overlapping leave-ins.
  4. Stretch: Apply MIZANI True Textures Coil Stretch Cream to small subsections. Emulsify the cream in your hands, smooth with a praying-hands motion, and distribute evenly from the lengths through the ends.
  5. Set: For the most visible elongation, place the hair in large flat twists or a two-strand twist-out and allow it to dry completely before unraveling. A wash-and-go is not required during this phase and may show more of your natural shrinkage than the stretched look you currently want. Slick back styles are ok too once not too much tension from elastics.

The cream-and-stretch approach is a better fit for your density and your current styling goal.

What to avoid before Week 3

Avoid flat-ironing, styles with synthetic hair, and aggressive dry detangling. Keep the routine consistent so we can make a clear decision at your next appointment.

Phase 2: Week 3 — Hair B Amino Acid Smoothing Treatment

At approximately three weeks, return for the Hair B Amino Acid Smoothing Treatment we discussed.

For your dense hair, the service will be planned in small sections with adequate product distribution and controlled heat. We will use the Hair B professional process, including appropriate cleansing, application, processing, and heat activation selected for your hair’s condition. Hair B’s professional information describes the treatment as a smoothing service with results that may last up to 12 weeks, depending on the client, service, hair condition, and maintenance routine.[2]

My expectation for this visit is a visibly more elongated and polished result than the curl-restoration finish you have now. Your natural texture will still inform the outcome, and your density may require additional product and service time. We will plan for that from the beginning.

How to prepare for the Week 3 appointment

Complete the three weekly wash-and-stretch routines, arrive with the hair free from excessive oil and heavy buildup, and tell me about any changes in breakage, dryness, scalp comfort, or styling response.

Phase 3: Weeks 4–12 after smoothing — protect the investment

After Hair B, your priority changes from trying to create elongation to maintaining the smoother result while preserving softness and manageability.

First 72 hours after Hair B

For the first 72 hours, keep the hair dry and low-tension unless I give you different written instructions at the service. Avoid washing, heavy sweating, tight hair ties, pins, clips that create dents, and placing the hair behind the ears for long periods. Sleep with a satin scarf or on a satin pillowcase.

Maintenance wash and care

Use Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Pureology Hydrate Conditioner as your primary post-smoothing wash routine. These are the moisture-focused options selected for maintaining softness without making clarifying shampoo your regular cleanser.

Use a moisture mask only as directed, such as the existing Hair B Conditioning Mask (take home size available)Use MIZANI 25 Miracle Leave-In Cream when heat protection and manageability are needed. Keep heat moderate and intentional, and do not add another chemical smoothing service at home.

Do not use sulfate or clarifying products casually after smoothing. If you need a reset because of buildup, contact the salon first so the timing and product choice can be planned around your result. The goal is not to fear every ingredient; it is to avoid unnecessary stripping and keep the maintenance routine consistent.

Your salon timeline for the next three months

Timing At home Salon plan
Week 1 Complete the 48-hour no-shampoo period, then begin weekly hydration and stretched twist styling. Allow the Olaplex curl-bonding result to settle; no additional chemical service yet.
Weeks 2–3 Repeat the wash, mask, leave-in, stretch-cream, and fully dry twist routine. Avoid new chemical or high-heat services. Prepare for the planned Hair B appointment at the three-week mark.
Week 3 Arrive with the hair clean and free of excessive buildup. Proceed with the planned Hair B Amino Acid Smoothing Treatment and customized elongation service.
Weeks 4–8 Follow the post-smoothing maintenance routine, minimize tension and unnecessary heat, and report any concerns early. Use feedback to refine products, styling, and maintenance expectations.
Weeks 10–12 Continue the prescribed routine and avoid trying to recreate the service at home. Schedule a progress review, assess ends and overall condition, and plan the next maintenance, trim, protective style, or smoothing timeline.

Plan the future before you leave

Your hair plan is designed around future services, not isolated appointments. We are using the Olaplex service to establish a better foundation, the Week 3 Hair B service to pursue the elongated result, and the following weeks to protect that investment. At each visit, we will decide the next step based on your hair’s condition, your styling goals, and how the previous service performed.

Please reserve your Week 3 appointment online at your convenience. Planning ahead gives us the best opportunity to manage your time, product needs, density, and desired finish with intention.
